Our Parents' Association
Welcome to the Staples Road School Parents' Association!
The PA work closely with the Headteacher and staff at the School to organise exciting events that our children and their families enjoy. These events contribute greatly to the community of our children's School, and some events have been part of the School calendar for over 50 years!
As well as having fun and building a sense of community, these events also have a huge financial benefit. We aim to raise over £10,000 each year for the School which provides many of the 'added extras' our children look forward to at Staples Road.
Each year we subsidise and sponsor educational visits for the children as well as supporting outward bound trips and a leavers event for our Year 6 students. We also help buy equipment such as extra sets of books, sports equipment, and ipads for interactive learning. We also finance larger projects such as the sound and lighting system in the Main Hall, playground equipment and the library refurbishment. We also run a termly nearly new sale of donated school uniform.
Members of the PA are all parents and carers of children at the School and we work together to liaise with the School and organise events. Our main fundraising events are the Summer Fun Day and Christmas Fair. We run Disco nights and non-uniform days for the children, as well as events for parents such as Quiz Nights. We also run pop-up shops selling treats in the playground, a Secret Shop for Fathers Day and Mothers Day gifts, and we run nearly-new Uniform Sales.
It's an obvious statement, but the events can't happen if we don't have your support! We are constantly looking for willing volunteers to become a ‘Friend-of-the-PA’ (FOTPA) to assist at the events we run. FOTPA members are an incredible resource and we encourage parents and carers to sign up and become part of a really welcoming school community.
