At Staples Road School we have high expectations of behaviour and conduct for our pupils. Children in all year groups are taught to take responsibility for their actions and make positive choices regarding their conduct. The school uses a variety of initiatives to manage and reward behaviour. We are a listening school and our pupils are very clear about what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviours. Our pupils will tell us if there are any issues and this is a key factor in addressing any concerns regarding bullying. In our PSHE we ensure that all pupils have an understanding of what bullying is and how this is overcome.
We participate in the National Anti-bullying week and this year's theme of ‘Make a Noise about Bullying’, focused on learning how to identify and safely report bullying. In KS1 & 2, we reminded ourselves of what is cyber-bullying and how to block someone or report it. We thought about the consequences of bullying and what happens to the perpetrators. We read books about bullying and discussed the situations and how they could have been better and made posters against bullying.
